Bedroom Bed Design Trends

Even as bedroom bed designs are still in vogue, there are some big trends for designers. You’ll want to make a sleeping space that is based on the following factors.

Recognize symmetry. ‘When rooms are aligned, they look good and appear to be in equilibrium,’ says designer Phyllis Lui of Kalu Interiors. She’ll often use wallpaper or molding for an authentic look; home dummies can do it using stencils, too.

Positioning
Bed in bedroom should be placed in a way to be private and comfortable, it is your mattress’s position that makes you feel safe and comfortable. Feng shui recommends you place it far off centre on a different wall and headboard facing it for best sleeping position that provides extra protection but also visibility of entry when in bed.

If you want sunlight to interfere with your sleep schedule, you may also want to try sleeping away from windows; or curtains that block out the light but keep you cool and in privacy might work.

You can put your bed on a diagonal from the door, this can provide interesting symmetry to the room, just make sure you don’t leave doors and windows in the way of things that reflect and intensify negative energy.

Headboards
A headboard is an accent piece that decorates the head of your bed and it can be either simple or more elaborate. Whether made of wood, metal or upholstered fabrics – headboards are statement-makers! They are also used for bedding security as well as for contrast or coordinating with the footboard.

Full Headboards make a bedroom stand out by adding height and drama. It’s commonly accented by neutral walls and bed linens used by designers for maximum effect.

Make a headboard look just like it’s on the wall, with trompe-l’oeil. Put a dark color on the wall behind your bed (such as this Sherwin-Williams Breakfast Room Green shade) so that your bed looks sharp against the walls; or hang over a area rug for extra drama. : Finish it off with some favorite photos or frames paintings to add to the effect.

Lighting
Lighting is a big part of the mood and vibe of a bedroom, so think long and hard about every option. The centerpiece of the room could be a bold chandelier or pendant while table lamps on the beds can give you an intimate reading or sitting area during the night. If you have darker tones, you could try using blue bulbs to avoid the glare during the evenings; amber lights offer privacy but don’t obscure view.

If your bedroom ceiling is too high to accommodate hanging chandeliers, recessed ceiling lights can give you ambient and task lighting with a dimmer switch.

Be task-lit with lamps or other direct light along a nightstand or beside a reading chair, or include light ropes into your bedroom decor to drape around headboards and canopy blinds for a magical feel. There are many designs – from fairy lights to lanterns – that you can choose from, according to your own taste.

Storage
: Bed frame storage is a great way to free up space during sleep and store commonly used items. Ranges from drawers and shelves to lift-up storage beds that are perfect for any bedroom.

Integrated storage means no bulky dressers and nightstands, which leaves room on the floor. Furthermore, this kind of storage tucks clothing away from view to keep it neat and tidy.

Storage: Typically, drawers are popular for the bed frame as there is enough space for extra bedding, pajamas, and seasonal attire. Low wicker or canvas boxes make a trendy modern design that will keep dust bunnies away.

A comfy bench or trunk at the end of your bed can be fashionable and practical bedroom storage options. The fluffy padding is a good place to wear shoes in the morning and also doubles as a blanket storage container in the winter months.
